Day 42 Saturday 6 July to Day 44 Monday 8 July 2019 El Questro

Saturday – Booked a cruise up Chamberlain Gorge for Monday and booked in for a BBQ Dinner tonight. Went fir a drive go Pigeon Hole lookout for views over the Pentecost River. There are individual campsites along the river and on the way back to our campsite we saw a bushfire starting in one of the sites. Drove back to Reception and reported the fire which we found out later burnt up go the road before it was stopped and a young couple lost all there camping gear. BBQ dinner was a choice of about 6 salads, brisket, chicken, sausage and barramundi all of which was very nice then about 5 deserts. Washed down with a couple of Coronas made a good evening with good music supplied by a guitarist and singer called Chris Matthews who was fantastic on the guitar. During the evening they took up a collection for the couple who lost gear in the fire and collected over $900.00 which was going to be matched by the El Questro management. Cool again and had jackets on.

Sunday – Drive back to the Main Road this morning for a walk into Emma Gorge which was mainly walking over rocks along a River bed. Lots of people doing the walk and swimming in the pools at the end. Relaxing afternoon of reading at the van.

Monday – Drove to Zeebedee Springs this morning which is a natural thermal spring coming out of the mountainside. Very crowded with lots of people wallowing in the pools. After lunch went on our Chamberlain Gorge Cruise with fresh fruit and bubbles. Spectacular cliffs and got to feed Archer Fish and a couple of large Barramundi.

We have enjoyed our few days here but it is very expensive and to us it is a place to see once but we probably would not come back again.
