Day 49 Saturday 13 July 2019 Roebuck to Kooljaman 275 kms

Finished packing the car and shutting up caravan about 8:30 am get into car ready to go and car will not start with what appears to be a flat battery. With help from a neighbour started the Generator and put a Battery Charger on for 1 1/2 hours then decided that we should go into Broome and have the battery checked. A test on the battery by an expert showed the battery was OK and charging well so we headed North about 11:00 am. Although the road was rough and corrugated in some places we arrived at Kooljaman at 2:30 pm. About half the road at the top is bitumen and roadworks are currently being undertaken with the aim that it will all be sealed by late 2020. Our caravan would have handled the road OK but because the sites at Kooljaman are only small they do not allow caravans to stay there. Set up the tent and walked down to Eastern Beach. The Restaurant was doing Pizzas tonight with some Aboriginal Dancing and a Band for entertainment so we decided that was a better option than cooking. The Pizza was good but pricey at $29.00 made up by being to bring our own wine as no alcohol is available here but you are welcome to bring your own supplies. Sat with a couple from Strathmore then into bed around 9:00 am. Toilet facilities are fairly old with only 2 toilets and 2 showers each.
