DAY 2 Monday 27 May 2019

HOPETOUN TO HOGWASH BEND SA 398 KMS

Very windy and heavy rain last night and still windy and cold this morning. The diesel heater has certainly been worth it with a nice warm van in the mornings. North to Walpeup then West through numerous small silo locations on the railway line to the South Australian border. It is sad the number of previous small thriving locations which are now almost ghost towns with a few hardy residents who are either financially unable to move or to old to start again. Crossed the border at 11:00am Victorian time and changed our clocks back 1/2 an hour. Went through a Fruit Quarantine station but we had prepared and had nothing left. A morning tea and fuel stop in Pinnaroo then North to Loxton where we stocked up on fruit and vegetables for the next week or so.

Had a near miss with an Emu deciding to miss our Bullbar by a few centimetres. A nice camp at Hogwash Bend on the Murray River near Waikerie which was sheltered enough to have a fire in the Choofer and sit outside for dinner.
